Looking to get away for a weekend this summer while improving your climbing? KMAC’s climbing retreats are a great way to get out of town, learn new skills, and meet other stoked climbers in one of Colorado’s premier rock climbing venues. Located in Estes Park, all guests will be offered a tent spot at our private campground for the weekend, overlooking views of Long’s Peak and the Estes Valley, as well as access to the hot tub and spa at The Stanley Hotel.

AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Course

The first step to working as a Rock Climbing Instructor! Whether you want to go down the path of becoming a rock climbing guide, or simply want to be able to safely take groups rock climbing. This is a great course for you. Led by Internationally renowned IFMGA Guide Buster Jesik in the Estes Park area, this course is the prerequisite for the Single Pitch Instructor Exam.

Gym to Crag Weekend 5/21-5/22

It’s summer in Colorado, the sun is out, the mountains are cool and crisp, and you’re ready to take all those climbing skills you’ve been working on in the gym this winter outside. Let us help you get started with our gym to crag weekend camp. This open enrollment weekend retreat will help you learn the skills necessary to safely start stepping outdoors and enjoy rock climbing for many summers to come. We’ll cover equipment, movement skills, belaying, specific safety concerns for the outdoor crag, how to build anchors, and leading sport routes.

Intro to Multi-Pitch 6/11-6/12

Feeling the call of longer routes, and bigger cliffs? Multi-pitch climbing requires an array of skills, from ascension to getting back down to moving efficiently. Join us for a weekend of multi-pitch skills practice where we will cover; anchor building, rope management, specific multi-pitch safety concerns, rappelling skills, multi-pitch efficiency, belaying from above, route finding skills, and gear considerations. 

For this course we do ask that participants have a resume of outdoor climbing, ideally having followed a few traditional rock climbs.

Rock Rescue Weekend  6/18-6/19

Getting out of trouble in the vertical world can be intimidating, but we’re here to help you build the skillset to handle adverse situations in the mountains. Our rock rescue weekend retreat is a perfect opportunity to work on more advanced rope skills under the supervision of guides and clean up the clutter. We will cover advanced knots and hitches, transferring the load, lowering skills, rappelling skills for the rescuer, rope ascension, escaping the belay, hauling systems and rescue communications. 

We do ask that participants in this course have a resume involving outdoor climbing, especially some base level multi-pitch routes.
