August was first exposed to rock climbing on a family vacation in Yosemite National Park, followed by a trip to Estes Park where he climbed the North Face of Longs Peak with KMAC. From those experiences, he was immediately hooked- both on alpine climbing and RMNP. Since then he has climbed across the country- from Yosemite and desert walls, Rocky Mountain alpine granite to the frozen waterfalls of Valdez, Alaska and the Alaska Range- spending his summers returning to KMAC and RMNP.
Based out of Anchorage most of the year- August is a student at Alaska Pacific University, majoring in Outdoor Studies. August loves teaching and sharing his passion for climbing. He is an AMGA certified Single Pitch Instructor, WFR, LNT Master Trainer and has completed his AMGA Rock Guide Course.
