About Us

AMGA ACCREDITED BUSINESSSince 1987 Kent Mountain Adventure Center has been offering rock climbing and mountaineering instruction for individuals and groups of all ages. We also provide outdoor education programs for schools. KMAC is an accredited business member of the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). AMGA program accreditation demonstrates that KMAC complies and operates within rigorous industry standards for climbing schools and guide services.

It’s not necessarily what we do at KMAC that is unusual. It is our approach to our profession that sets us apart. While we hold ourselves to the high technical demands of the AMGA’s Scope of Practice, we aim for that level of skill to just be in the background. Up front, where we meet our guests is our passion for teaching in the mountains. Our goal isn’t just to get people from A to B safely, but to help them figure out how to do that on their own, and have the time of their life in the process.

Guide PhotoKMAC is licensed by the State of Colorado to provide camps for boys and girls. KMAC is an authorized concessionaire for Rocky Mountain National Park, Department of the Interior.  We also operate under permits from the federal Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service for the Arapaho/Roosevelt, San Isabel, and the Manti-La Sal Natl. forests. In compliance with federal law KMAC is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, natural origin, sex, age, or disability.

We are proud to have been selected as the wilderness trip provider for public and private schools throughout Colorado, and as the rock climbing program provider for many camps and private groups from around the country.

KMAC Guides

The KMAC family of guides is the reason for our respected professional reputation. KMAC guides would cite their passion for climbing and love of teaching as one of the most satisfying parts of their lives. On a daily basis they positively impact their students and guests and see the rewards that they experience. But KMAC staff are more than just guides β€” they are role models, teachers, professional career guides, climbing coaches, child care professionals, and outdoor activity specialists. Many are masters of Leave No Trace and Interpretation. They strive to role model the importance of having passion and integrity in living. Minimum age for a lead guide is 23. All lead guides are certified Wilderness First Responders and are trained and/or certified by the American Mountain Guides Association which guarantees rigorous and uniform guide training.
